The Oakcrest Women’s Committee, in conjunction with our Presiding Priesthood Committee, is extremely concerned about camper safety when phones or other electronic devices are brought to camp. As we have painfully witnessed in past summers, phones are no longer just for making calls. We love our campers and must keep in mind the safety of all girls who come to camp. We have a responsibility to the parents of campers who expect us to not only keep their daughters physically safe but do whatever we can to prevent emotional and spiritual harm. We do not want any girl who comes to camp to be exposed to things of which her parents would not approve.
Because of this, we have adopted a zero-tolerance policy for phones or other electronics, including smart watches, at camp. If a camper brings a phone or other electronic device to camp, she will be sent home.
Parents and campers will agree to this policy as they register online, when they sign the Permission and Medical Release form, and again as they are reminded at busing that phones are not allowed at Oakcrest.
As always, the ONLY exception to this policy will be a camper who needs her phone to manage her diabetes.
