Employee Requirements

We ask that you check your summer calendar carefully and fully commit to attending all training meetings as well as daily attendance at camp for all 11 weeks (see below). If you have a conflicting week, you may request to schedule an unpaid week off at or before interview time (if available). If you are unable to wholly commit to the time required, we may not be able to consider your application. KD’s whose last week of school conflicts with pre-camp week (June 1-June 5) should still apply.

All Employees Must:

  • Be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
  • Be worthy to hold a temple recommend when applying for a job at Oakcrest and continue to hold a temple recommend throughout the summer.
  • Be self-motivated and willing to work hard.
  • Possess good organizational skills.
  • Be in good health and able to function on lower amounts of sleep.
  • Be able to work under pressure and handle stressful situations.
  • Make a commitment to work at Oakcrest for the entire 11 weeks of the summer.
    • Be fully committed to attend all staff trainings (May 1-in the evening, May 2, May 16),
    • Pre-camp week is mandatory (June 1-June 5),
    • 10 weeks of camp (June 8-August 14). If you have a conflicting week, you may request to schedule an unpaid week off at or before interview time (if available.)
  • Be able to work and live at Oakcrest Monday morning through Friday afternoon.
  • Have a place to stay on the weekends within a reasonable travel distance from Camp Oakcrest.
  • Have transportation to and from camp (near Kamas, Utah) or to various car pool meeting spots in the Salt Lake Valley.
  • Pass a background check.

Dress Code Standards:

  • Dress modestly and appropriately for camping.
    • A daily tee-shirt will be provided for you to wear.
    • Long pants required.
  • No extreme hair styles or unnatural colors.
  • No body piercings. (In addition, Oakcrest discourages wearing more than one pair of earrings).
  • We respectfully ask that any visible tattoos be covered.

After your completed application is reviewed, you may be contacted for an interview.  Members of the Oakcrest Directorship and Oakcrest Women’s Committee conduct the interviews.  They will spend some time getting to know you and asking questions about your application.
