Application Instructions

Attention:  Please check your school’s calendar for any schedule conflicts. The Oakcrest 2018 schedule is from June 4 – August 17, 2018.

Online Staff Application The online application is for ALL positions including the kitchen staff positions.

Application Instructions and Checklist

To apply for employment positions at Oakcrest LDS Girls Camp, please follow the instructions below.   Application deadlines are listed at the bottom of this page. A complete application has four parts:  1) signed Application; 2) Essay (included in the online application); 3) Bishop’s Reference form; 4) Personal Reference form.

A. Application

1. Check all positions you are interested in applying for. (Yes, you may apply for more than one position!) 2. Answer all questions and provide all requested information. 3. Initial all items on the staff schedule (included on the application). 4. Sign and date the application.

B. Essay

Note: One Essay is adequate when applying for multiple positions

Directorship Essay (those applying for director, assistant director, or head cook) Include the following: 1. What are the 3 most important attributes or skills you would bring to the Oakcrest leadership? 2. What have been your most significant leadership experiences? What did you learn from them? 3. What challenges have you faced when working with others and how have you overcome them? 4. What impact do you think an LDS girls camp should have on its campers?   OR Staff Application Essay (those applying for counselor, or specialist/counselor, or Range Master)  Include the following: 1. Any specialized training or experience in camping or other fields which might have a bearing on this application. 2. What impact do you think an LDS girls camp can and should have on its campers? 3. Your reasons for wanting to spend a summer working at Oakcrest Camp. 4. The contributions you feel that you would personally be able to make to the camp. OR Kitchen Application Essay (those applying for assistant cook or kitchen duty specialist (KDs) only) On a separate sheet of paper, please write a brief, 1 page essay. Include the following: 1. What is your cooking experience? 2. Share some of your methods for keeping your work spaces clean. 3. Tell how you deal with stress. 4. Share how you would be an asset in keeping a positive attitude, helping those around you, and working as a good team member.

C. Two completed reference forms:

1. The Bishop’s Reference form filled out by your college bishop (if currently in college) or your home bishop if living at home. 2. The Personal Reference form filled out by someone who has supervised you in school, church, work, or knows your qualifications. This reference letter cannot be filled out by boyfriends, relatives or roommates. Important: Letters of reference must be sent by the person referring you. If they come from you, the applicant, your application will be disqualified. These references are confidential and must not be seen by the applicant. References will become the property of Oakcrest. ***Upon receiving your application, essay, and two references, your application will be reviewed and you may be contacted for an interview (we do not interview all applicants).
